Itinerary description

So this trail started interesting…

WARNING, the entire trail is only for very experienced hikers / climbers

First it took me through a hotel territory

Then I had to walk through a private road

Afterwards I had to climb over a bar wire fence

After approximately 4km, it was just super steep uphill, there is no trail whatsoever here and you have to make your way through prickly bushes while holding yourself for your life and constantly looking at navigation

Once you survive the super steep part, you reach the windmill section, this is private territory and I don’t think anyone is allowed to come up here…

After the highest peak here, it goes downhill and it’s alright, after you slip and fall several times and get chased by goats you should be fine and down in approximately 1.5 hours or so

Then once you start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, at the end of the road before the highway there is a gate and a camera pointing towards the gate. I must have been well dressed, because someone opened the gate from a distance

Then the journey isn’t over yet as you have to walk past the highway and make your way back to the car

Make sure you have;

• camelback and 2L of water
• plenty of snacks for 5 hours hike
• long pants that are good to walk through prickly bushes
• a hat that doesn’t fly off your head
• sunglasses
• fully charged phone (power bank fully charged)
• great navigation skills
• can and will do attitude
• there’s no way back, only forward attitude

    So this trail started interesting…

WARNING, the entire trail is only for very experienced hikers / climbers

First you leave your car close to the highway on a grass patch close to the bins

Then you can walk up the road all the way to the starting point or you can walk through hotel territory and you will see Bulls

Then I had to walk through a private road

Afterwards I had to climb over a barb wire fence

After approximately 3km you will find wooden structure and benches to enjoy the view and relax

After the highest peak here, it goes downhill and it’s alright, after you slip and fall several times and get chased by goats (just kidding) you should be fine and down in approximately 1.5 hours or so

Then once you start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, at the end of the road before the highway there is a gate and a camera pointing towards the gate. I must have been well dressed, because someone opened the gate from a distance

Then the journey isn’t over yet as you have to walk past the highway and make your way back to the car while cars are racing past you

    Make Sure You Have;

    • good physique as this trail requires it
    • not being afraid to climb and following the trail as much as possible even at spots where there’s no path
    • check what time the sunsets and calculate whether you could make it
    • send live location to a friend or family member for them to see where you are
    • camelback and 2L of water
    • plenty of snacks for 5 hours hike
    • long pants that are good to walk through prickly bushes
    • something warm (when it’s around 20 degrees Celsius, because at some parts it’s very windy)
    • a hat that doesn’t fly off your head easily
    • sunglasses
    • fully charged phone (power bank fully charged)
    • good navigation skills
    • can and will do attitude
    • there’s no way back, only forward attitude
