Itinerary description
Tow-leg hiking trip from Valldemossa, via Deiá to Port de Soller. This hiking trip was based on another, similar route I found on WikiLoc. The other trip rated this as "extremely difficult", which is rubbish. There is a climb, yes, and the descent to Deiá is steep and can be challenging (in particular if there is fog or rain).
The first thing you should know, is that near the start of the trail, there is a gate, and a sign indicating that there is private land. Instead of passing through there, I turned right and followed a sign to Deiá. This caused a lot searching further up, and my guess is that for a smaller fee, you should be able to pass through the gate .
The second thing you should know is that from Deiá, you CAN walk along the coastline, like I did, but the trail is unmarked and many places simply not there. Still, it's hard to go wrong as long as you follow the sea, and the views are spectacular.
On another not, the tourist office in Valldemossa could have been more helpful. I did the trip without a map (but with WikiLoc, of course). Still, I was concerned (rightfully so) that I might run out of power, so I wanted to get a map. But, no, this wasn't something the tourist office could help with. In fact the recommended me NOT to do the trip at all, saying the trail would be very, very hard to find and I would probably get lost. Some potential for improvement there...

Thanks a lot for sharing the route Hallvard! It was super useful.
The route was absolutely fantastic.
However, I got the impression they don't want too many people on the way from Valdemossa to Deia. A guy was at the Valdemossa gate that you mentioned and he almost did not wabted to let us pass.
However, for future hikers:
-Make a photo of the map you find on the billboards
-Don't go with dogs, they won't let you pass
-Be really careful with the marks, might get lost easily

This was a fantastic experience! Walked it alone and had a great time!
Met a guard in the morning in Valldemosa that said I was not allowed to walk the path but when we got up to where the path turns sharp right through a fence he said it was ok. Apparently he was working the toll both for the path going stright (think I wound up in the same place anyway).
I am setting this as a hard experience but that is partly because of the time of year, still a bit hot in beginning of October.
