Itinerary description
This route, which highlights a lot of Vall de Gallinera's most famous (short) hikes takes you from Beniali to Benissiva, Benitaia, La Carroja, Alpatro, Llombai, Benissili, Castillo de Benissili, La Forada, Mirador del Xap, Castillo de Benirrama and Benirrama back to Beniali.
During the hike through the villages you can easily follow the '8 Pueblos' signs. After that you have to keep an eye out for other marks: paint, poles and piles of rocks left there by other hikers. Although the paths may not all be very clear, with the help of Wikiloc you will be able to find your way through.
Part 1: Beniali - Castillo de Benissili:
10.5 kilometers • 2 hours & 30 minutes
While the first two hours are fairly easy, the last half hour is only uphill. When you are at the castle, you not only have a great view over the valley, but also a great opportunity to take a short break.
Part 2: Castillo de Benissili - La Forada:
5 kilometers • 1 hour & 45 minutes
Because the paths are not always clear here, you won't be able to walk very fast. Be aware that there are some steep and/or tricky parts. But also keep in mind: after this it will get easier. Are you tired? From La Forada you can also decide to go down and take the easier way back to Beniali.
Part 3: La Forada - Mirador del Xap:
4 kilometers • 1 hour & 15 minutes
Because the path can sometimes be hard to find, you will need to keep an eye on the app when you are not sure. Are you tired? If you follow the road (and not the sand path) down, it will take you right back to Beniali. After this point, there will only be one more opportunity to make a short cut.
Part 4: Mirador del Xap - Castillo de Benirrama:
4.5 kilometers • 1 hour
Because most of it goes downhill, it is pretty easy. Were you too enthousiastic and do you think the castle was a step to far? A few meters after you leave the asphalted road, you'll pass a crossing. Where the path to the right leads you to the castle, the path that goes straight, will lead you directly to Benirrama.
Part 5: Castillo de Benirrama - Beniali:
6 kilometers • 1 hour & 15 minutes
You will have no problem finding your way here, and just have to remember that you are almost there!
