Itinerary description
Vega de Río de Palmas path.
This is a great walk along a gorge cut in the light coloured syenite rock (type of granite). Onion skin weathering can be observed. Plagioclase feldspar crystals can be easily seen. Near the dam the contact the host rock can be seen with the diorites and gabbros turning from black to greenish. This is likely a hydrothermal alteration after the emplacement of granite.
