Itinerary description

The track starts from the La Parada bar, which opens early for breakfast. I am going to the church of San Martín de Tours, where the signs begin. I leave the town by a road, but soon I take a wide track of land that crosses agricultural crops. The track begins to ascend looking for the "El Tesorillo" wind farm. From its highest part, you can contemplate fabulous views of Gaucín with its axe, Sierra Crestellina, Casares and Sierra Bermeja, the highest.
On the descent, you pass through the entrance of the Sambana farmhouse, which is a place of rest and celebrations.
The track leads to the CA-8200 road, which runs parallel to the Guadiaro River. The next 5 km will be on this road that lacks a shoulder, so extreme precautions will have to be taken when passing vehicles.
Turn left to take another road, the CA-9200, uphill, likewise, without a shoulder. We distance ourselves from the Guadiaro course, with which we will meet again tomorrow.
At the highest point of the CA-9200, we already see the towns of Jimena-station and Jimena de la Frontera nearby. At the entrance of the first, a handkerchief next to the road offered free grapefruits to walkers. It was not a matter of rejecting the offer. It is already known: the Camino always provides.
Jimena-station grew around the train stop of the Antequera (Bobadilla)-Algeciras line, which still serves both passengers and goods with several trains a day. The line is not electrified, so the trains operate with combustion engines. The line was built by an English company based in Gibraltar in 1892. It is a railway line with which we will meet in the next stages, to Ronda, and that allows access to the starting points of the following stages in case they cannot be run. In this town, we deviate to visit the sanctuary of Our Lady Queen of Angels. Originally from the s. XV, the current trace is from the s. XVIII. I couldn't get inside because it was closed. It doesn't seem to have a fixed schedule of sightseeing.
From Jimena-station, a comfortable walk leads to Jimena de la Frontera. The signs do not continue through its historic center, but bypass it to connect with the stage of the next day.
We put an end to the stage in the city council of Jimena.
This population was declared a Historic Site in 2004. It is very pleasant to walk through its steep streets. Upstairs, the castle offers unparalleled views. On the wildest part, the Hozgarganta River runs. A path allows you to walk through it and visit the ruins of the Royal Artillery Factory, built in the s. XVIII to surearms to the Spanish army during the siege of Gibraltar. Another place of interest is the House of Memory of La Sauceda, a private museum managed by memorialist associations that exhibits the Francoist reprisal that took place in the nearby town of La Sauceda and in the farmhouse of El Marrufo, belonging to the municipality of Jerez, in 1936, with bombings on the civilian population and several dozen shootings. Your visit particularly moved me, especially since I have frequented La Sauceda since I was young and it is a place that I know well. In the museum they were also kind enough to seal my credential.
To eat in Jimena, I recommend the Cuenca restaurant, of great quality and with the local gastronomy (https://maps.app.goo.gl/V82sTZjirTXqci166? G_st=ic).
As an accommodation, I was treated very well at Casa Henrietta (https://maps.app.goo.gl/78uxEEWzAdhgqXzg6? G_st=ic)
