Itinerary description

Vilaflor - Valle de Ucanca - Sombrero de Chasna - Vilaflor

To explore the remote valley of Ucanca (Valle de Ucanca) there are not so many options if you want to start and end your trail in Vilaflor. Once you have reached the end of the valley which ends with Degollada de Ucanca pass (2420m), you have two options: first, is to climb Guajara (2718m, 4th highest peak in Tenerife) and return via Degollada de Guajara pass, or the other, walk along National Park trail #31 passing Sombrero de Chasna and then return along Vilaflor - Boca Tauce road. We opted for latter option and walked along the ridge towards the Sombrero de Chasna. One confusion was due to obvious recent change in route #31 which instead of following the ridge, descends at the lower level (visible in the trail as a short return path) to rejoin with the original trail later. It is recommended for less experienced to follow #31 instead of walking along the ridge, as there is one relatively dangerous pass on the route.
After the reaching of road, it could be an option to walk along the road, however, it is quite long and windy, so instead we chose to cut short via forest trails, which was partially successful due to fact that some of the trails on the map do not exist in the real life. Alternatively one can use option via Las Lajas recreational area (see my other trail).
In general, this is long track, and will require at least 8...9 hours of walk without counting the stops.
