The place where, according to tradition, Jesus was baptized, is perfectly marked. That is also where the Israelite people entered the promised land commanded by Joshua.
In river as such it leaves a lot to be desired, a bit dirty, too much scrub, little flow, etc. Let's hope that in Jesus' time it was more beautiful.
On the other side of the river is Jordan, in fact you could see several Jordanian churches.
