Itinerary description
Quite easy hike to go on the top of the Cosiguina Volcan. Breathtaking views on 3 differents country !
We did this hike in two days from leon, with camping at the top, just near the laguna, AMAZING !! (Without guide but you can find one easily)
To go to Potosi: Bus from Leon-Chinandega and Chinandega-Potosi, about 4-5 hours
For the return, the last bus from Potosi is at 1PM
The path start from the hostel Brisas del Golfo where we took our lunch before beginning the hike.
Jus go right on the street then firts at left after the baseball stadium, and again right left on a big sand road. After this, its easy to follow the path and you will cross several differents landscape before the beautiful laguna !
They have one camping spot on the forest, 15 minutes before the top of the volcano but it's possible (Not very confortable but worth it) to put one tent on the path at 5 meters of the laguna...
For the return, just following the edge of the crater and you will arrive on an other well-traced path.
Is it also possible to do it on one mid-day, starting at night to reach the summit at the sunset and to be at time to take the last bus for going back to chinandega/Leon !
BUT the night there definitively worth it !!!!!!!
