Itinerary description

Wadi Alghua (or Alghona) is an easy plus hike which is almost similar to Wadi Abadilah. Having both the same kind of terrain, rock formations, water pools / ponds and some vegetations / farms..

This wadi is located between Wadi Khulabiya and Wadi Abadilah on the same Dibba - Masafi road. There is a bridge on the road which is actually crossing the wadi. You can park your cars on the road side after the bridge and then walk a bit backwards to get down in to the wadi. UPDATE: Now you can take right from the roundabout and there is ample parking space. Co-ordinates given below.

As i said earlier, it is an easy hike, basically a wadi walk with gradual elevation gain . There are few farms and a number of water pools. The trail is definitely recommended to do after some rainy days. You can walk up to 2.5km by which you are already covered all the pools, farms etc. after that the wadi is full of bushes, some boulders, getting sudden elevation gain and at the last before the summit there are some loose rocks as well..

It is not necessary to do the summit, as the main highlights are the pools, farms etc. But there is a nice view of river beds and mountains from the summit point.

Note the waypoints and read their description. Please reach out for any further info / clarifications

Points to note:
- Mobile network is not available in when you go deep inside, so recommend to download the trial in advance in case you want to follow
- Trail starting point is accessible with sedan cars
- Even if it’s an easy hike, keep enough water / electrolytes etc. according to the climate
- Water presence in wadi / pools / springs depend on rain / season. (recommend to do
the trail after some rainy days)
- Check the pools and ensure it is safe before getting into it
- NO LITTERING PLEASE

Hi Muhasin, is this a well known place? Is the trail crowded?

    Hello Giselle, not that crowded

Go before it gets too crowded and becomes dry 😀

  • giselle.camoens Jan 27, 2022

That’s the plan. Now a days even previously secluded places like wadi Ar’ar etc also getting very crowded.

  • giselle.camoens Jan 27, 2022

Thank you for your posts they are great for going off the beaten track

We followed this trail and what I like the most is that this trail is not at all crowded...We met only 2 other groups during our time over there. I would say this is an intermediate trail. First few miles were easy but once you cross 4 km, it will start getting lil difficult - Loose rocks.

For beginners, climbing those mountain is bit difficult, but it's all worth it.

    Thank you Muhasin.

This is a great trail but the starting point is very steep and it is most definitely a moderate trail, it should not be encouraged as easy. Great scenery and worth doing.

    Hi, rodudxb..

Yes getting down to the wadi is not easy but it's not that technical.. and that part is not even 10% of the entire trail.. Above all, difficulty ratings are different for each person's skills and experience.. wikiloc is just for reference only...

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the trail...🙌🏻

Hard to tell the starting point .. also it was mentioned it’s easy hike but it’s not for a beginners..

    Hi Makin,

Thanks for your comment / review

Yes..getting into the starting is not that easy, and its not well laid hiking trail path..

But the hike is almost easy (wadi walk) until you start climbing the elevation (as mentioned in the description)

However difficulty ratings depends on the hikers experience and expertise.. wikiloc just for reference...

I’m not talking the elevation or the Altimeter . I just mentioned it’s not for a beginners ( first hike or so )

  • nikijones1105 Mar 5, 2022

Nice once into the wadi. Steep path in unfortunately littered with dead goats and chickens :-( but after that a decent hike. Easy for experienced hiker.

Super relaxing trail, pretty straightforward as it follows the wadi, the last bit of it is heart pumping ...but that's the idea 😊. We did it as a sunset hike, started around 4.00 pm, and was nice, cool and shaded. One point though, we're seen more snakes in this wadi than usual..so one should watch their steps.

  • Benjamin Cooper 2 Dec 27, 2022

Made it past the pools, about 3km and turned back with rain coming. Beautiful walk, agree with the Easy rating, but start at the car park just before the roundabout from where you can follow the track down to the wadi and the walk is well signed. Thanks to those who went before, building cairn markers, steps and pathways

  • Paola Tardini Jan 9, 2023

    Nice and easy.
Highly recommended going until the end, the last part is slightly steep but the view from above is probably the best part of the hike!
Starting point: a small road going up on the right side of the road, after the roundabout, before the bridge. Then down the slope, into the wadi.

Muhasin introduced this trail to many of UAE hikers. Before it got developed by Fujairah Adventure.
Now the way to go in valley is more easy. Take right boefoe the round about the easy way to in.
    Valley is very beautiful.

    Hi Muhasin,

Thank you for another nice trail.

We were not sure what’s the best place to park as there were several comments on that recently, ended up parking in the large open space just before the roundabout. (Same as mentioned by Husnain I believe).
It was easy to enter the valley from there. Beside ample space is available for parking.

We went till the summit and it’s worth the climb. We came across around 10 other hiking groups, so seems it’s become popular now – may be because of the nice water paths. :-)

Beautiful Beginner to Moderate trail through the wadi filled with water pools, palm trees, and gorgeous rock formation. Reaching the summit was definitely on higher intensity as it's good 20/ 30 minutes of ascending but nothing too difficult. The views from the summit were just spectacular! One has to be careful of loose rocks and gravel when coming down. People with knee problems should definitely be cautious and maybe consider bringing the polls.
Overall, the absolute beauty of a trail in Fujairah mountains.

Thank you very much. We did this trail today. I recommend Muhasin to every hiker. His notes were straight to the point, very detailed. The best!!!

I find this trail nicer than abadilla. Seen tons of clean water bodies infact you will see tods, frogs, fish happily swim on it. Didn't encounter any snakes.

Some paths are narrow if you fall then RIP.
Some paths are steep on the way to summit.
