An Easy Beginner level Family Friendly Hike

Wadi Ar'ar is located in between Wadi Al Fara and Wadi Asimah. It is a beautiful hike with an easy grade terrain suitable for beginners and family.
The terrain is exactly similar to Wadi Abadilah, with small pools / ponds, mini falls, polished rocks etc. but there is no farms / extra vegetations like in Abadilah.

We started the hike just after sunrise, went about 5km inside, by that time the sun was already up, we lost the shade and so came back and round it for 10km. There was very little water content in the first km but then we were able to see a number of pools and mini falls.

Even though its relatively easy to follow the wadi without a map but at some points there are intersections and so following wikiloc is recommended. There is no mobile coverage once you get inside the wadi, so be prepared with downloaded / saved trail before reaching.

The last 6-7km to the trail starting point is off road / gravel rood but it is accessible with sedan cars if you drive carefully.

Points to note:
- Mobile network is not available so recommend to download the trial in advance in case you want to follow
- Trail starting point is accessible with sedan cars however if there is heavy rain in that area then the off road may get damaged
- Even if it’s an easy hike, keep enough water / electrolytes etc. according to the climate
- Water presence in wadi / pools / springs depend on rain / season. (recommend to do
the trail after some rainy days)
- Check the pools and ensure it is safe before getting into it
- Some other hikers spotted snake in the trail
- NO LITTERING PLEASE (like what we have seen in Abadilah!)

Location : Wadi Ar'ar - Al Ghail
Parking : 25.404574, 56.104017 (sedan)
Difficulty : Easy
Highlight : Natural springs / water pools / ponds

Note the waypoints and read their description. Please reach out for any further info / clarifications

General info: Install NA998 app for national ambulance Incase we are calling 998 the app can automatically share the location.
Save this number 800424 Poison center of UAE in case of snake bite.

As always beautiful hike, just to confirm there was water / pools when you went this November right? Planning to go this weekend with kids, they will be thrilled if there is water

    Hi Giselle,

Very beautiful trail, with fresh water stream. It was a lot due to recent rains. The walls formation on sides very unique.
Its hard to reach but easy to trek

Did a lot more scrambling around the end, and there was tons of loose rock that breaks off under our hand, and plenty of scree. But that parts entirely optional!

Very nice… small water pools are amazing and big ones are good challenge to navigate. Trail keeps you engaged through out the journey.

Thank you Muhasin for the trail. It was easy and amazing. I went with my family and all of us enjoyed. There are still ponds with clear water with tiny fishes.

Even we encountered snake in second last point, luckily we seen before we step on the rock🪨. It's looks like a baby rattlesnake.

We went on 12 February 2022.

    Overall this trail/hiking was amazing.

Did this trail with my 10 yr old, last few kilometers in car add to extra time due to off road. Overall a good trail mostly flat(covered till 3km one way), managed to find a few still water ponds even on July 17. Be extra cautious while you are around wet spots (pond), chances of snake are more. We spotted one but God's grace no harm.

Did this hike today. Due to contestant rain in past couple of days, wadi was full of water from where we parked the car. Kids enjoyed it a lot and apart from couple of tricky climbs ( due to most route filled with running water) it was pretty easily hike. We only did a short part as stopped at a lot of spots.

  • Mariam Sallam Feb 26, 2023

Great hike. Took my yorkie with me on it, he loved the water right after the rain season. We didn’t do the full route as we stopped at a lot of places to take pictures and chill. Would recommend with a pet carrier as some parts, small dogs would need to be carried to climb around the water ponds.

We , 30 people team is planning to go to this place during national day holidays from Dubai . A 30 seater bus can go till the starting point of the hiking?.

    Hi Murali,

The condition of the road is not sure, especially after the rain... if it is damaged, you won't be able to reach the starting point with a coaster..

  • Sid Java Jan 7, 2024

I complete this hike with couple friends. quite the boring and tiring hike. Even more tiring than climbing several mountains. Nothing interesting. Boring waterfall.

Very beautiful place indeed. Full of stunning rock formations and clean body of water. Got to see snakes 8 in total (4 grey cute size and 4 brown thick as fingers)

Waze and google maps not working after finishing our hiking we dont know how to get out of the area. We just tried 1 hour of going back and forth until we reach the main road.

    Thanks Muhasin

Completed this trail yesterday with a group of friends. Lot of water pools and steady flow of streams throughout the wadi with frogs, fish and some snakes (spotted 5 snakes) which slither away into the bushes or hide under the rocks. An awesome trail for those looking for water covered hikes!
Thanks Muhasin for the well explained trail recording as always!!
