Itinerary description

Last Hike of 2020.

Hiked my Best yet Hike of my 2 years old Hiking Life.
Almost 2100 meters Elevation gain in a Day.

Started from Ghalilah Dam and climbed all the way to the True summit of Jebel Jais at 1935 meters height in the neighbourhood's 😉😉😎

The Ghalilah trail is indeed Steep incline and demanding.
Ended the Hike at the Jais View Deck Park.

21 kms long walk and completed within decent time.
Impressive views all along.

21 kms long walk and completed within decent time.
Impressive views all along.

We hiked this Trail from Ghalilah Dam ( clearly marked on Google Maps). We also parked a Car at the View Deck park on Jebel Jais Top road. That also means that you have to drive all the way back from Jais top to Ghalilah dam for about 1 hour 15 minutes to get your 1st car back. But it is advisable if you are a small group and dont want to strain your knees on downward trail.
This trail can be done either as a loop back and forth or as one way as we did but Logistics are required. Also way back down on Ghalilah tail can be stressful on your knees after a long day of hike of 20 Kms of hiking.
Total distance of Ghalilah - Jais True summit- Ghalilah would be about 25-27 kms although I have not tried it yet Plus 50% of it would be descent.

I have recorded both options on wikilocs so that it can be referred by the hikers as per their preferences.

Wikiloc links below.
It's in 2 parts.

1st recorded only till Jebel Jais true summit.

2nd recorded as the full Hike.

This Hike should be tried by Fit Moderate Hikers with full preparation.
Please do not overestimate yourself or the surprises that the mountains throw at you.

We are keen to do this. How did you get to the start and from the finish of you only went one way?

  • SarahFrench Jan 23, 2021

Maybe I don’t have the right access as I can see the two maps for the first part to the summit and the full hike but can’t see where you say if you took two cars or got taxis which is what I am keen to understand. We have always done loops in that area so we don’t have experience of doing a one way.

    Hi sarah,
I updated the description, it was incomplete for sure.
Realised it once I read your comment.
