Itinerary description

The forest fire in 2012 badly affected the Barranco de Tagara which this path passes through. In the year following the fire the path was reinstated and for a few years was fine, but now, nearly 7 years afterwards, there are a lot of large trees which were burnt so badly they were killed in the fire, are now beginning to fall, causing damage to the path and the steep slopes, and creating a danger for hikers. Therefore the authorities have re-routed the PR-70 path to avoid the section between points 12A and 15 in the book. It appears the walk follows the same route as in the book 'Tenerife Nature Walks' from points 1-4, and between points 15 and the end. I am not sure whether hikers aiming for Guia de Isora are diverted at point 4, 5 or 7. It is near point 7 the newly refurbished and signposted path heads up to avoid the barranco, and then goes down the other side to get to point 15. If hikers want to include the part between points 7 and 12A in the book, the short route between those points is walkable but a little overgrown. I do not know the state of the paths for the extension via points 8-12, as I have not walked these paths recently.
