Itinerary description

A wonderfull winter hiking trail above the resort Arosa - with panoramic views practically during the whole time.
It is a combination of two well-marked and perfectly prepared winter hiking trails: Prätschalp-Winterwanderweg (a more "secluded" part above Arosa´s cross country ski track No. 236) and Arlenwald-Winterwanderweg (above Arosa and Innerarosa - with crossing ski slopes).
It is possible to shorten it, or to prolong it e.g. to Weisshorn (2 652 m) or to the resort Lenzerheide via Heidi & Gigi Weg trail.

* It is in principle a circular hike from and to Arosa with its free-of-charge municipal bus.
In the vicinity of Arosa´s railway station, you board a bus No. 062 to Arosa Prätschli and start your winter hiking in Prätschli, the last bus stop.
You return back to the same starting bus stop, resp. to the train station with a bus No. 062 going to Arosa Prätschli, resp. with a bus No. 061 going to Arosa Untersee. Best is to board in Arosa Gada, a bus stop under the church Bergkirchli, close to the museum Schanfigger Heimatmuseum.

Bärenland Arosa

Bärenland Arosa is a bear sanctuary of around 2.8 hectares at 2 000 m, which was opened on August 4th, 2018. It is the first bear protection project of the animal welfare organization Vier Pfoten in Switzerland. In Bärenland, a maximum of five bears from poor treatment conditions can find a species-appropriate new home, and rediscover their instincts and natural behaviour. Although Bärenland is a tourist attraction, direct contact with bears is reduced to a minimum so that the bears have an opportunity to create their own daily routines and, if need be, to hibernate.

Bergkirchli in Innerarosa

Bergkirchli in Innerarosa was built in 1492/93, its house organ with four organ stops around 1730. Both are protected by the canton of Graubünden. Throughout the season in summer, autumn and winter, short concerts (of about 45 minutes) are held there on Tuesdays at 5 p.m., which are popular with holiday guests and locals.
