Itinerary description

Part of the Continental Divide Trail requires bouldering and is impassable for horses. I have indicated this with waypoints on the map. Several other trails are not passable by horses. In addition, the National Forrest does not allow camping at certain lakes and basins with horse stock. However, most of the wilderness is open for camping with certain conditions especially distance from water. Here is a link to a very recent article that describes the popularity of the Bridger Wilderness and the Wind River Range. (paste https://trailmaps.us/WindRiverArticle into your browser)

There are two other wildernesses adjacent to the Bridger Wilderness. There is the Fitzpatrick Wilderness to the North and the Popo Agie Wilderness to the South East. (paste https://trailmaps.us/Wilderness for a map of wilderness areas in the U.S.)

Users of stock must obtain a permit from the Pinedale Ranger District. Click on "View more" below to obtain more information and to open a map in CalTopo.

I plan to take my first ride in late June to plan a boy scout campout later in July. After my ride I may have more comments.
