Itinerary description
Our trip to Yellowstone is an overnighter. The group visits Hayden Valley on one day then stays overnight in Gardinar Montana. Some rent a room in Gardinar, others camp outside town at the Eagle Creek Campground. The campground conveniently has six horse corrals.
The next day the group moves to Lamar Valley (see ride of same name). I only went once so I can only say that Hayden Valley had more buffalo. Could be different each year.
The Buffalo seemed pretty calm but that is what they all say before being attacked. Some of the old bulls had a well-worn spot where they just lay and grunted loudly. Follow well-worn trails. Riders have gone out and their horse has sunk in soft mud.
