Itinerary description
Done with my 8 y.o.
Another epic route in Labanoras Regional Park and Aukštaitija National Park.
*****
DAY ONE: Alnė village > Paisetė Campsite
You will be crossing one of Lithuania's longest lakes, Lake Aisetas (if not the longest, depending on your view on Lake Asveja), a narrow and winding lake that seems to think it's a river. The lake comes complete with a few islands and peninsulas, and a great rest area / playground towards the end, near Saldutiškis.
*****
DAY TWO: Paisetė Campsite > Pagilūtė Campsite
Expect a drastic change of scenery: you will first paddle down the Aiseta, a 4km-long reed corridor, before entering Lake Kiaunas and then the Kiauna. Reed sections now alternate with forested sections, as well as with meadows and villages. Be sure not to miss a curious sight near Kūriniai: a noria!
*****
DAY THREE: Pagilūtė Campsite > road bridge on the Šventelė
It's only a couple of kilometers to go on Day 3 before you will join the Žeimena. From the confluence, it's a rather slow and easy (and still gorgeous) ride down to the turn-off to Lake Telys and the road bridge on the Šventelė.
