Itinerary description

Three hours later I could have enjoyed sunshine. But nothing beats the quiet early morning on the fjord. First though one has to pass urban Stavanger Øst with its high rises. But then, when crossing over to Marøy nature takes over. Crossing over to Usken one feels far away from the city’s sprawl. Even under the gray clouds some underwater plants exposed by the low tide showed eerie green color. One can only imagine what color explosion this would bring in sunlight. Close to Snekka I met some large seals, which preferred to take a dive. Then, between Tyttebærholmen and Bukkholmen, the land birds dominated the soundscape. Good tunes compared to wild geese, gulls and herons.
