Itinerary description

Back to normal conditions for July: cloudy, gray with scattered showers. Light wind from the East made me go to the southern tip of Vassøy, curve around some islands close to Vassøykalven. Then I headed towards Lindøy lighthouse, which gave me a red light - still dark enough. Half way around Lindøy I crossed over to Hellesøy, everybody still inside. Same along the shore of Kalvøy. Swinging around Tyttebærholmen I went to Flatholmen. After a small pause in the shallow sound between the islands I went homeward with waves and wind from behind.

Suspension bridge

The suspension bridge from Vassøy to an unnamed island between Vassøy and Vassøykalven. You walk on wooden planks. A nice extension of the accessible nature area.

Vassøy Bathing Area

Earlier a mooring area for boats, now cleared from wrecks, turned into a nice, sheltered place to swim.

The ferry pier has recently been upgraded to support the larger electric ferry - but trials showed that it didn’t work. Now it is upgraded once more with large cost overruns.
