Itinerary description
A lovely solo daytrip of no less than 43.6 km: 31.6 km on the River Ourthe by packraft from Hotton via Durbuy to Barvaux, followed by a 12 km return hike via Hazalles, Biron and Ny. I start at 9:30 am on the dot, and get back at 5 pm.
Conditions are excellent: gorgeous weather (15°C), little wind and a good flow after a couple of rainy days. The trip is exhausting, not so much because of the obvious length, but especially because of a problem with the inflatable seat of my packraft. It seems to be deflating faster and faster due a puncture, causing me to constantly “sink” into the boat. In the end, I have to unmount my backrest and use it as a seat, which is not very comfortable, but luckily appears to work.
