Pick your timing right, I set off from Portimao 2 hours before high water time. This ensures you have plenty of water on arrival in Silves, it does dry out there at lower water. Not only does leaving Portimao 2 hours before high water give you plenty of water, the last of the flooding tide will give you a little more speed over the ground. You will have enough time to lunch in the beautiful historical town and return to Portimao on the start of the ebbing tide.
