The purpose of this stage, is to reach the North Cape, and as usual in my, early morning to gain time to time.

Before loading the "mule", I wash it in the laundry room of the Camping. (Yesterday I did not do it because I preferred to do it with a very cold engine) The section of muddy lane yesterday left her with a very bad "face".

I get going, and a few kilometers I arrive at the town of Silsand, in front of Finnsnes. The first one still on Senja Island and the other one on mainland Norway. Both linked by an impressive engineering work: the Gisundbrua bridge.

The kilometers go by as fjords and lakes accompanied by snowy mountains are happening way to the North Cape.

Imagine a place at the northern end of the Earth, where the Atlantic Ocean joins the Arctic Ocean and its cold waters meet.
That place is Nordkapp, the North Cape, west of Finnmark, in northern Norway. Here there is no solid ground between you and the north pole, except for the Svalbard archipelago, and the summer sun never sets for two and a half months, between mid-May and the end of July. Many visitors like to see the midnight sun or the sunset over the Barents Sea, from the plateau of Cape North.

The first tourist to reach the North Cape plateau was the Italian priest Francesco Negri, who visited it in 1664. Currently, reaching the North Cape is quite simple and about 200,000 tourists visit the plateau during the two, or three , months that the summer lasts. With its cliff penetrating into the sea, this plateau rises 307 meters above sea level. The visitor center of the North Cape is called 'North Cape Hall' and hosts several exhibitions throughout the year. The St. Johannes Chapel is also here and, as it is the northernmost ecumenical chapel in the world, it is a popular wedding venue.

. The North Cape became famous for the first time when the English explorer Richard Chancellor surrounded it in 1553 while trying to find a sea route through the Northeast Passage.

As I get closer to this emblematic place, the terrain is increasingly arid and steppe where the reindeer roam at ease. You have to be very careful with them. They cross at full speed in the same way that they stay motionless on the road without knowing what reaction they will have.

NordKapp is located on the island of Mageroya and to access it, we will do it through a tunnel that goes to the bottom of the sea. The feeling that you live entering a tunnel of 7 kilometers of which almost half is downhill and the rest uphill is the real you go to the bottom of the sea (as it is), and for a moment it occurs to you to think: ... if this shell bursts, how do I get out of here? ...

Unlike other days, today it does not rain ... it does not rain until fifteen kilometers from Cabo Norte, raindrops accumulate in the visor of the hull ... an agnostic like me, begins to implore God give me the opportunity to arrive without rain ...

And the supplications did the miracle. The drops are tempered and when you reach the esplanade of the iron sculpture that represents the Earth Globe (for a fee) the sun rises. We are in the northernmost place in Europe (popularly known) but in reality it is not like that, because really this is very close, to the left of this location but there is no access, except on foot to get there.

Another icon of the place is the "Monument to the Children of the World" inaugurated on June 15, 1989. An idea of the artist Simon Flem, through which he proposed a contest in which he wanted to express cooperation, friendship, hope, joy , peace ... through the art of several children around the world, to convey that these values are above any border. This work is closed by a boy and a mother portrayed by the artist Eva Rybakken, who seem to be observing their message.

After traveling all over the outside, you have to immerse yourself in the Visitor Center, we will warm up if it is cool and where we can eat, have a snack or dine in your restaurant with views of the most important Nordkapp icon. We will find a large souvenir shop, an exhibition on the history of the island of Mageroya, the northernmost post office in Europe. Imagine the surprise of your relatives / friends when receiving a postcard from here !, an interactive exhibition of the birds that They inhabit the North Cape and a large capacity auditorium where they show a documentary of the North Cape during the different seasons of the year, from the winter with the aurorae mentioned above, as the visitors come and go, the island , etc.

If we descend through the underground tunnel, the first thing we will find are some extraordinary models with the history of the North Cape and the arrival of King Óscar II of Sweden and Norway, who visited the place in 1873, attesting to this, the monolith that located outside, very close to the iconic balloon. We can also see the small and minimalist church of San Juan, as well as the surprising, oddly enough, Thai museum in honor of the visit of King Chulalongkorn of Thailand in 1907.

Contemplating the infinite North Sea, I mentally review what it has cost to get here ... seventeen days and more than seven thousand kilometers !!!

Although here the day (sunlight) lasts 24 hours, I have to organize myself. I begin to descend to the NordKapp Camping distant thirty kilometers between Honningsvag and the Cape.

Upon arrival at the campsite, air accompanied by rain.
