I have this stage marked in red and with a lot of asterisks:
Lysefjord Kjeragbolten and Preikestolen (The Pulpit).
In the morning and soon enough to take advantage of all possible hours, I start to discover the unprecedented and desired Fjords.
As I move forward, the exuberance of Nature that Norway represents is more than evident. This country is pure scenic fantasy come true. It is a succession of scenarios that are opening to each curve that you enter and exit from another, continuously.
The destination is Lysefjord (Fjord of Light) and I want to get through the highway FV 986 and FV 500 that dies in the Fjord. It is tremendously spectacular. Twenty-seven right / left horseshoe curves with a curved tunnel that leaves you at the foot of the Fjord. From the Fjord, or salts where you enter, or by ferry.
The kilometers go by and the succession of images are so sublime, that every time you stop to look, observe and delight. I continue to savor all that I observe inside the helmet at the same time that I speak to my "companion" traveling and whose back I discover more and more scenarios, where peace, calm and silence is a constant that neither the motorcycle wants to break.
I approach the first asterisk of the day.
KJERAGBOLTEN.
Kjeragbolten is a rock found on the Kjerag mountain in the municipality of Forsand in the county of Rogaland, Norway. The rock is a glacial till of 5 cubic meters embedded in the crevice of the aforementioned mountain. It is a very popular tourist destination and is accessible without the need for climbing equipment. However, it is suspended above an abyss 984 meters deep. It is also a popular site for BASE jumping. The rock is located in the southwest of the town of Lysebotn, just south of Lysefjord.
Arriving at the Kjerag Parking, we have a viewpoint with a bird's-eye view of Lysebotn and the final part of the Lysefjord Fjord totally AWESOME!
In the Parking lot abounds a lot of vehicles. Especially Motorcycles. Without further loss of time, on the bike I leave Jacket, Gloves, Helmet and boots (here there are no thieves). I put on the shoes that I carry expressly for this and Vereda to the song, we go to the Kjeragbolten.
They are about seven kilometers (roundtrip) by a terrain with sections of much unevenness secured in the most exposed sections with chains and climbing ropes.
To get to this emblematic place, I had to pass snowfields with very hard snow. The way back and forth is a pilgrimage of visitors who want their photography in the Kjeragbolten.
When you arrive you have to queue for that photo. There are professional photographers that if you access, pay and send the photograph to your mobile.
As I do not trust the snow accumulated in my shoes, I do not go up to the "conguito" but the infarction photos to the abyss that there is between this "conguito" and the bottom of the Fjord, if they are, and here they are exposed.
It's getting late. Feet that I love you and return as soon as possible to the Parking.
When I arrive, the only bike that is left is mine. You have to dress again as "Roman" and go down to the second asterisk.
LYSEFJORDEN.
The Lysefjord or Lysefjord (or Lysefjorden, the suffix "-en" is a definite article form in the Norwegian language) is a Norwegian fjord of the North Sea, which is located in the Ryfylke district, east of the City of Stavanger, in the county of Rogaland in the southwest of the country. The name means clear fjord, and it is said that it derives from the light colored granite rocks that are found along its banks.
The fjord was carved by the action of glaciers in the Ice Age and was flooded by the sea when the last glaciers retreated. From end to end, it measures 42 km with the rocky walls falling almost vertically more than a thousand meters above the water. Due to the inhospitable terrain, the fjord is only slightly populated and has only two villages: Forsand and Lysebotn, located at opposite ends of the fjord. The few people who live or have lived along the fjord are only able to leave their houses by boat, as the hills are too steep for roads.
Lysebotn, on the easternmost tip, is heavily populated by workers at the nearby hydroelectric power plants in Lyse and Tjodan, both built within the mountains. On the Lyse list, the water drops 620 m to the turbines, producing up to 210 MW of electrical power; in Tjodan, the water drops 896 m for a production of 110 MW. The two power plants provide electricity for more than one hundred thousand people. A spectacular road that rises almost 900 meters through a series of 27 sharp curves joins Lysebotn with the outside world.
Lysefjord is an extremely popular tourist attraction and a day trip from nearby Stavanger, from where cruises run the entire distance of the fjord. As well as an extraordinary landscape of the same fjord, two points along its route are popular side trips. The rock of Preikestolen, located on a vertical drop of 600 meters, can be seen from the fjord, but it is more impressive from above. At the end of the fjord is Mount Kjerag, a popular hiking destination with even more spectacular falls. The practice of BASE Jumping on this site is legally permitted.
The road that goes down to the fjord is narrow and twisted, but of excellent asphalt, curves to the left in a continuous zigzag leaves us right in the Fjord, where you can breathe a calm and calm difficult to explain. The only thing you hear is the sound of the waterfalls breaking the water at the base of the cliff. It's about eight in the afternoon and you have to look for "nest". In Camping Kjerag (the only one here) I plant the store and tomorrow will be another day.
