2 - Route of the watermills (Guimaré and Los Pisones, Gijón, Olivares, Cabañales & Pinilla):

Itinerary description
- Leave the Town Hall on your left and descend Calle Costanilla towards the roundabout. Take the third exit and follow the N122 road. After 450m turn right on Calle Doctor Fleming and head up until the entrance to the forest of Valorio (1). Then continue straight along the central walk. Pass by the fountain of the Lion and the restaurants area, then go ahead on the dirt road to reach the Croix bridge. Km 2.5.
- Then, turn right and continue along the bike lane to the small roundabout, cross the stream and at about 150 m on the left from the bars, by the Lions fountain, turn 90º and head up the track from the left to the top of Valorio. Cross the entire esplanade by any of the trails, with the objective of taking the Camino del Monte, at the end, next to the road. Stick to it for 1000m until a path on the left appears, take it and descend towards the N122 road. Once you see the panels of Guimaré (2) and the Valcabadino cellars on the left, take the right tarmac lane to be able to cross the road safely. On the other side, leave the Valcabadino wineries in front and turn left towards Guimaré; dive the entire valley to the Almaraz road (ZA-P 2223). Km 8.8
- Take the road to Almaraz to the left for 400m, turn right to the "Camino de la Aldea" and go to the end and back. At 500m, on the riverside, to enjoy Pisones watermills (3). Km 15
- Back on the road and towards Zamora, pass a penitentiary in abandoned state on the left, and at 500m, before arriving at the brownish school buildings of Corazón de María, take a path, on the right, that leads up to Gijón watermills (4), hidden behind a chain, on the right. Then, stick to the Duero river and go upstream up to Olivares watermills (5). Cross the river by boat or by the bridge of the Poets to pass by the Pelambres beach until Cabañales water mills (6). Go ahead until Aceñas watermills (7), close to the iron bridge. Then, cross it and the second road onto the left heads to Plaza Mayor.
Highlights of the route:
- The forest of Valorio (1) and the area of Guimaré (2), always green and pleasant with many almond trees.
- The water mills of Pisones (3), Gijón (4), Olivares (5), Cabañales (6) and Pinilla (7).
- (6) The way back to Zamora, by the riverbank, with its cactus and views, especially striking with the blossoming of the almond trees.
