Ok, the Rincon de La Vieja MTB 100 is a beast of a race. Easily one of the hardest things I've done on a bike. Pinto won with a 6:40ish time. Me, I was in at 7:52 (ignore gps time) for either 9th or 10th overall, that is what I was told. Official results coming. The elevation gain is correct, but it felt like twice that. I spent more tome sitting on the nose of the saddle rather than the rear. Got the full experience today: heat, pouring rain, steep climbs, white knuckle descents, saw Jesus, water crossings, a nice crash at 20 mph that had me on the ground with a banged up left knee before I knew what happened, etc, etc. Everyone here saying this is harder than day 1 of La Ruta. I can't personally confirm that. Pictures coming from the race photographers will be nuts!! Can't wait. Thanks to the organizers for an amazing race. thanks to Jon for motoing to all the aid stations to give me my nutrition. Definitely a top notch 100-miler, on par with any USA 100-miler. Ok, time for some R & R. Yes, mom, I am OK. Home on Monday night
