Itinerary description
A rainy day on a mountain bike
Today, early in the morning, I started to ride by the streets of Barcelona city. It was almost 7.30 and, suddenly, started to rain. I thought it wouldn’t rain during the day. Sometimes, we may be wrong.
Waking up so early in the morning is very hard.
I’d thought, the night before, to arrive to the River Tordera, in the border between two provinces. There, I’d cross by a bridge and ride a couple of kilometres along this river, by the side of Girona. Then, I would be able to ride to Barcelona PG train station as fast as possible, along the nicest paths I could find there.
Since I started to ride, I decided to ride grateful. One hour later, I stopped beside a fountain and filled two bottles, for the rest of the journey, and continued my trip along the Passeig Marítim. At Premià, I turned left, by an underpath crossing. Then, I went on riding along a quiet street, Camí del Mig.
At 10, I arrived in Mataró, 32 km from Barcelona.
The rain, thin, hadn’t stopped at any moment. I had been riding all the time in a peaceful pace, the rain hadn’t bothered me. I rode 2 km more in Mataró city. I decided, then, to come back. I realized that the journey was over. The weather is really the master, who decides what you can do.
I surrounded Mataró, turned right and came back, at constant speed, a little faster. I would arrive in Barcelona as soon as possible.
The rain stopped no more than 5 minutes, but no sunshine was there. I went on riding. 2 hours later I had left Mataró, I arrived at the train station. Then, when I was waiting for the train, I realized that this journey was really a good journey, as good as the weather had let me ride.
There were more people riding, as well. It was a nice rainy day. A rainy morning, certainly, because the journey was shorter than I had thought the night before. I arrived before 2 pm to Tarragona.
My wife and me were able to dine together. It’s a nice thing, isn’t it?
