Itinerary description
We leave at the bikecenter at 09:30 am leaving Corralejo through a construction site in the West of Town. Immediatly we turn onto a dirt track, that leads alongside a chain of volcanoes to Lajares. We follow it only a few kilometers to the foot of the first volcano, the 'Bayuyu'. With 273 meters it´s the highest of the chain and promises a fantastic view. We leave our Mountainbikes in a hiding place and start hiking up a small goat path. The 'Bayuyu' isn`t very high, but like most volcanoes it´s quite steep, so we gain height quickly and can enjoy a great view over Corralejo, the Natural Park and the Sand Dunes.
From the peak we have a fantastic view over the whole chain of volcanoes, that raised the north of Fuerteventura out of the ocean, from Corralejo to El Cotillo, from Majanicho to Lajares..
We keep following the edge of the crater back down, going down being harder than up, because of many loose rocks on the path. We reach the Mountainbikes and drive the same way back to the bikecenter.
