Itinerary description

The 160km Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) is a wonderful chance to check out some of the beautiful rural countryside close to Brisbane. If you are walking, it maybe best to break it up into several smaller trips. Our adventure started at Yarraman and we followed the unsealed trail through the towns of Blackbutt, Benarkin, Linville, Moore and finished at Harlin. We actually rode our bikes on this 62km stretch and found we found it easier than expected as it dropped around 320m in elevation. During this first section you are mainly surrounded by forest as the Yarraman/ Blackbutt/ Benarkin areas have a long history of timber cutting. On the lower section, the countryside opens up with more pasture so you get to see more cattle and horses. For more information visit our Facebook Hike site- "Take A Hike- SE Qld".
