Itinerary description
The 160km Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) is a wonderful chance to check out some of the beautiful rural countryside close to Brisbane. If you are walking, it maybe best to break it up into several smaller trips. Our adventure continued from Coominya as we followed the unsealed trail through the towns of Lowood, Fernvale and through to Wulkuraka at Ipswich. We actually rode our bikes on this 43km stretch as a recce for a future hike. This section takes you through reasonably flat areas as it winds through the countryside with plenty of cattle and horses to see along the way. During most of the journey the trail is basically a gravel/ dirt road but nearing Wulkuraka it becomes a 3m wide concrete highway. A very pleasant section of the BVRT. For more information check out our Facebook hiking page- "Take A Hike- SE Qld".
