Itinerary description

Nice tour with a nasty climb to the Monte Cuesta Blanca (Rio Chico o Cañada Real de Merinas) awarded by a beautiful view on Madrid.
The route can be shortened by about 12 km by starting in Villafranca del Castillo at Waypoint C (enough parking space there) and hence skipping the part between Majadahonda and Villafranca del Castillo. At least that will save you the dreadful climb back to Majadahonda..

- Notes:
1) The path between waypoints A and B is every now and then "removed" by an actively plowing farmer. Bikers and hikers create then soon a new trail, but there is a change that you have to get off your bike and walk this part.
2) At waypoint C, pass below the bridge of the M509 (see also photograph).
3) Due to sunset I returned quickly to Majadahonda via the M509. However, cars passing by at 2 meters distance with 80 km/hr or more is not nice though. It is therefore recommendable to return via the Dehesa de Majadahonda. Not necessarily via the same trail as at the beginning of the route but away from that road.

- Moving time: 2hr 26min
- Moving average: 14,5 km/hr
- Max speed: 55,5 km/hr

- Difficulty level acc. to IBP (www.ibpindex.com): 80
