Itinerary description

Cycling - Piano Superiore del Valasco from Terme di Valdieri. This ride unfolds on a former military road and is classified as difficult, not much for the length or grade, never exceeding 10% in my opinion, but rather for the surface which is loose rocks - from golf ball to fist size and bigger - requiring good riding skills both going up and descending. Total elevation gain of about 700 m (2,150 ft).
The Natural Park of the Maritime Alps is a majestic setting. Respect the environment and please observe the park rules (posted) and take into account that this is rather a typical area for hikers. Bikes allowed (rarely seen) but always keep speed at bay for general safety of pedestrians.
Worth a peek is the Bela Rosin chalet (inside the spa complex, free access), mistress and later wife of Vittorio Emanuele II, King of Italy.

Tips:
Car parking fee is 3.50 Euro/day in Terme di Valdieri, the starting point of this track.
I've hiked several times to the Valscura Lakes which could be reached by bike if willing to push-walk through some sections of the degraded road, which past the end point of my track is an engineering marvel built by the Alpini (Italian Mountain Troops) in early 1900. This is considered by many as the most spectacular military road in Italy. I've included a couple of photos but check this website with excellent photos worth a thousand words:
