Itinerary description
Crossing Purbachal highway as done in this ride might not be possible anymore. Works are proceeding and it seems a wall will surround the highway, making impossible to cross. In such case, one would need to cross elsewhere and re-connect ahead with the track. Beside that, the track was extremely beautiful, cutting through beautiful landscapes, well managed orchards where one could finally spot the beauty of this land. In fact, having been mostly on the eastern side of Dhaka and having observed the amount of garbage stock piled everywhere, the violence perpetrated to the rivers (not sure there is still any water left in them but chemicals), one could think that's Bangladesh. This track proves the opposite and offers a real possibility to reflect on what could be the direction to take for those almost-lost areas, to reclaim rivers, bring back nature, promote a more sustainable living model where people wellbeing is at the center, not job opportunities at the expenses of the environment.
Entering Gazipur was another disaster: Garbage, pollution, factories freely burning waste and producing unhealthy fumes, again at the expenses of the surrounding communities and the environment.
