ECO-CICLE RUTA 27: TransNevada - Stage 4 (summer) - Collado del Espino - Puerto de la Ragua - TRACK OFICIAL

La cuarta etapa de Transnevada discurre por la ladera sur de Sierra Nevada, entre los términos municipales de Ohanes y Bayárcal y puede realizarse por dos recorridos. Durante el verano las pistas forestales presentes en las cumbres de Sierra Nevada se quedan libres de la nieve que las cubre en invierno. En ese caso, se puede realizar el recorrido que se describe a continuación.

Desde el Collado del Espino, casi siempre por cotas superiores a los 2.000 metros, se avanza entre la vegetación típica de alta montaña mediterránea dominada por piornos, enebros y sabinas.

Durante la etapa aparece un maravilloso paisaje donde la alta montaña de Sierra Nevada contrasta con la presencia del mar Mediterráneo, al fondo. Entre ambos, las Sierras de Gádor al este, y de la Contraviesa en la parte más occidental. En el valle, la comarca alpujarreña con su paisaje humanizado de gran valor etnológico.

DESCRiPCiON DEL RECORRiDO

Desde el Área Recreativa Collado del Espino la etapa empieza con un duro ascenso por una pista de superficie irregular hasta llegar al Peñón de La Polarda donde podremos disfrutar de una gran panorámica en todas direcciones.

Desde el Peñón, por la pista principal y con un ascenso suave, continuamos con la etapa hasta llegar al paraje de El Pelado, donde hay una bonita panorámica del cerro El Rayo y del Barranco de Ohanes.

Siguiendo con la ruta, se cruza con mucha precaución el barranco antes mencionado, ya que es posible que existan cárcavas producidas por la escorrentía durante el deshielo. Justo después, se ignora un camino que surge a la izquierda. Por él se baja hasta el Collado de los Huertecillos, donde podemos acceder al recorrido de invierno. Como norma general, si algo impide seguir progresan- do se puede continuar por el recorrido de invierno bajando por cualquier desvío que surge por la izquierda.

Siguiendo con la ruta coronaremos en Loma de la Pandera, donde aparece un mirador con una panorámica tan amplia como le permiten los casi 2.350 de altitud a los que está ubicado. Es el lugar ideal para un merecido descanso.

Continuando por la pista, ya en suave descenso, se pedalea en dirección oeste muy cerca de la divisoria entre la vertiente norte y sur de Sierra Nevada. Se pasa por las inmediaciones del Cerro de Almirez y de nuevo, surge otro cruce por la izquierda. En este caso es el acceso a las Minas de La Gabiarra, que también se podría usar como acceso al trazado de invierno.

Siguiendo hacia el oeste, pronto se llega a una depresión con una pequeña laguna en el centro conocida como Laguna Seca. Es una pequeña cuenca endorreica donde se acumulan las aguas del deshielo de la nieve depositada en la ladera del Morrón del Chullo y en las pequeñas cumbres que la rodean.

Tras abandonar Laguna Seca, se continúa a través del Ventisquero Sanjuanero, donde es probable encontrar restos del gran nevero que se forma aquí durante el invierno. Justo donde acaba la ladera y empieza un nuevo cambio de orientación, surge a la izquierda el descenso a Bayárcal. Pero la ruta continúa adentrándose de forma progresiva en el espectacular Barranco de Mosquera donde se encuentra la Fuente Hoya de la Velesa. Seguidamente cruzaremos el Arroyo Anchuelo, que nace cerca de la cumbre de El Chullo (2.611 metros).

Finalmente, tras pasar por varios barrancos con algunos tramos sin pendiente o en ligero descenso, llegaremos al fin de la etapa en el Puerto de la Ragua junto a varias instalaciones recreativas donde destacan un punto de información, un refugio y varios senderos.

The fourth stage of Transnevada runs along the southern slope of the Sierra Nevada, between the municipalities of Ohanes and Bayárcal and can be done in two routes. During the summer the forest tracks on the peaks of the Sierra Nevada remain free of the snow that covers them in winter. In this case, you can take the route described below.

From the Collado del Espino, almost always at heights above 2,000 meters, you advance through the typical high Mediterranean mountain vegetation dominated by broom trees, junipers and junipers.

During the stage, a wonderful landscape appears where the high mountain of Sierra Nevada contrasts with the presence of the Mediterranean Sea in the background. Between both, the Sierras de Gádor to the east, and the Contraviesa in the western part. In the valley, the Alpujarra region with its humanized landscape of great ethnological value.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

From the Collado del Espino Recreational Area, the stage begins with a hard ascent along an uneven track until reaching the Peñón de La Polarda where we can enjoy a great panoramic view in all directions.

From El Peñón, along the main track and with a gentle ascent, we continue with the stage until we reach the place of El Pelado, where there is a beautiful panoramic view of the El Rayo hill and the Barranco de Ohanes.

Continuing with the route, the aforementioned ravine is crossed with great caution, since it is possible that there are gullies produced by runoff during the thaw. Right after, a path emerging to the left is ignored. Through it we go down to Collado de los Huertecillos, where we can access the winter route. As a general rule, if something prevents further progress, you can continue along the winter route down any detour that arises from the left.

Continuing with the route we will crown in Loma de la Pandera, where there is a viewpoint with a panoramic view as wide as the almost 2,350 altitude at which it is located allows. It is the ideal place for a well-deserved rest.

Continuing along the track, already on a gentle descent, you pedal west very close to the dividing line between the north and south slopes of Sierra Nevada. You pass through the vicinity of Cerro de Almirez and again, another intersection appears on the left. In this case it is the access to the La Gabiarra Mines, which could also be used as access to the winter route.

Continuing west, you soon come to a depression with a small lagoon in the center known as Laguna Seca. It is a small endorheic basin where the melting waters of the snow deposited on the slope of Morrón del Chullo and on the small peaks that surround it accumulate.

After leaving Laguna Seca, we continue through the Sanjuanero Glacier, where it is likely to find remains of the great snowfield that forms here during winter. Just where the slope ends and a new change of orientation begins, the descent to Bayárcal emerges to the left. But the route continues progressively into the spectacular Mosquera Ravine where the Hoya de la Velesa Fountain is located. Then we will cross the Arroyo Anchuelo, which rises near the summit of El Chullo (2,611 meters).

Finally, after passing through several ravines with some sections without a slope or a slight descent, we will reach the end of the stage in Puerto de la Ragua next to several recreational facilities where an information point, a refuge and several trails stand out.
