The towns of Milho Verde and Três Barras divide this stretch is into three parts.
Milho Verde was founded in the 18th century. A customs station was established there to help control the traffic of people and goods along the Estrada Real, as evidenced by an antique log on display in the village. The view of the the waterfall-ridden valleys and mountains of the Serra do Espinhaço from behind the Chapel of the Rosary is breathtaking. Milho Verde has a variety of options for hosting tourists.
Descending several long, steep slopes, the road continues to Três Barras. Along the way the traveler can see vestiges of the original 18th century stonework of the Estrada Real and the crystalline waterfalls that are the main attractions of the village. Três Barras is not equipped to host travelers comfortably.
And on to city of Serro. Founded shortly after explorers discovered gold here at the beginning of the 18th century, Serro became an important economic and political center in the territory of Minas Gerais, and its well-preserved colonial mansions and churches are the main attraction. In Serro, the tourist will find everything necessary for a comfortable stay.
