Itinerary description
Day 1, 105 km:
starting to track from Borghetto village, in the bike path that goes along the Mincio river, at the dam in Salionze area we crossed going on until Peschiera. Now the road and pieces of bike path can be followed, being careful at the cars. Even if it’s September the amount of tourists is quite high, anyway we reached Sirmione stopping for 2 minutes by the castle to enjoy the view and fill the bottles with some water at the fountain. Proceeding between roads and bike paths we stopped again in "Spiaggia d’oro" to eat something quickly as a morning break, then going on till Desenzano where in the center we went through the weekly street market with typical products, to point after Salò which is a nice town expecially by the lake, we had a stop for lunch in a pizzeria filling the belly to then go on until Toscolano Maderno, to have a Caffè and then going on till Campione, quick break on the pier, fill the bottles and go on until Limone, where we could ride on the suspended bike path called "Ciclopista" for few kilometers. When it ends we had to go on the road being careful in the tunnels with the cars overtaking in the dark, staying in line, using front and back lights, until Riva del Garda where we celebrated the day with a refreshing spritz, a nice dinner and stopped for the night.
Day 2, 80km:
we started the day by Riva del Garda and Torbole beaches enjoying the view with the wonderful landscape of the lake, mountains, sailing boats, colorful wind-surfs and kite-surfs, all this more or less until Malcesine where we had a relaxing break, swimming in the lake and eat something for lunch, after this the next break for a coffee have been in the wonderful small old harbor of Torri del Benaco. After this we reached Garda following the bike paths until Lazise where we decided to go by the road due to the amount of people filling the bike lanes, reaching Peschiera where at the train bridge called “7 ponti” we could close the loop of the lake!!! So happy and conscious that we had to do 15 more kms by the Mincio river to close our journey.
So far a nice way to enjoy a bike weekend, the weather was better the second day but at the end was good to have some clouds the first day since we had more kms, things to remember…. Lights for the tunnels and swim clothes to enjoy the water of this wonderful lake, ciaoooo 😊
