The Flambahn goes about every hour from the port about 18 km to the final destination Myrdal to about 900m high.
The much-vaunted panorama experience that you could enjoy - is a publicity stunt.
The passengers of the cramped train rush from one side to the other to take photos. There are only a few windows you can open, in front of which but then the photojäger crowd. If you have no heads in the picture, just the next tunnel or you are just on the wrong side and again has a rock face in mind.
At Kjosfossen, a huge water cascade, the train stops briefly as a photo stop and you can go out onto a platform.
In Myrdal we rented Mountenbikes in the station cafe. They are pretty well equipped. Then, conveniently, it was always downhill, with plenty of time for the wonderful views in Flamtal.
