Itinerary description
This trail follows the abandoned (and closed for vehicles) 4x4 track connecting Lost City to Blyth Homestead (the old tin mine) in Litchfield National Park. The track has been abandoned by some time, probably a few decades and therefore, quite hard to negotiate. It is quite rocky, sandy and unmaintained track, some sections are completely impassable without dismounting. I would recommend riding from Lost City towards Blyth Homestead, as it is much easier than the opposite direction. Average speeds are about 7 km/h so give yourself about an hour to complete it. The hardest part is finding the other end of this track joining the Blyth Homestead road, it is very difficult to navigate this section, however, you cannot miss the Blyth Homestead road ahead of you and the abandoned homestead on your left. If you are coming from Lost City, look for the old gate with the pole in the middle left over from the old fencing surrounding Blyth Homestead and cross the creek in that place. Use the GPS tracking and compass when riding.
