Itinerary description
5-hour loop. After paralleling the autovia the route follows a beautiful river gorge along an abandoned railway track to bring you out on the other side of Sierra Alhamilla to Lucainena de los Torres and spectacular views of the desert. There is a tough 1-hour ascent through pine and oak forest to the peak before an exhilarating descent to Huebro (for water) and Nijar. In the summer leave early as the desert gets hot. Stop an Lucainena for last water replenishment to avoid dehydration on the climb.
