Itinerary description

This is a whole daytrip from Malaga to Nerja. On the way you will also pass El Palo, Rincon de la Victoria, Torre del Mar, Torrox and some more villages… So enough opportunities for several stops.
We start our tour at Plaza de la Marina in the center of Malaga. Cross the street and go to the port. Behind the light house you can enter the beach promenade. If you now go straight on for some kilometers it will take you all the way to El Palo and Rincon de la Victoria. It is always close to the sea (no asphalt road) but ends in Rincon de la Victoria. So you have to change to local asphalt road N-340. Go straight on again. There is not too much traffic on this road and there is additional space for cycling next to the car lane. When you are passing the cities always go straight on, even if the street changes its name for some time. After around 50km you will reach Nerja. In the city it is nice to go to the Balcon de Europa and to the Roman Aqueduct (4km from the city center). The caves of Nerja are also close to the Aqueduct.
It is also possible to go on and cycle to Motril on the same road.
On your way back to Malaga take N-340 again. In Rincon de la Victoria you can go along the beach again. Both, beach promenade and local road, will take you back to Malaga (Plaza de la Marina).
The way is just easy going, no climbing. But it is quite far so it is a moderate trail… Sometimes it is also windy along the coast…. Better for MTB or Trekking bike (if you go along the beach).
Enjoy!
