Itinerary description
The "Montseny Pyrinees odyssey" is a multi-day circular route, consisting of 8 gps-tracks made over 5 days in july 2018. The total length of this shortened version of the odyssey is about 313 km, and the accumulated ascent is 7820 m.
The route starts in Sant Esteve de Palautordera, at the base of the Montseny region. First the route follows my track: "Double ascent. Turó de Sant Elies, Pla de la Calma." up to the Collformic restaurant, after that it's north through Catalonia following the route: "Meridiá Verd - Ribes de Freser-Badalona" as documented by user "pinoclaros", to get to Ribes de Freser. I do this trip reversed from his (south to north) and in several days, camping out on the way. The idea of his route is to follow the actual Greenwich Meridian, in as straight a line as possible. This get's you in to some really interesting places, and some quite remote and difficult trails.
After that, the original plan was to climb the Puigmal mountain via Toses, and then string a bunch of peaks together, to eventually reach the "Roc Colom", and then descend from there to Camprodon. That leg of the journey was cancelled due to bad weather, but I did manage to tie together the entry and exit-points of that section, so: Ribes de Freser, and Camprodon. I will fill out the higher route at a later date.
The return journey takes the comfortable way back, at least much more so than the way out, as evidenced by how much farther I was able to go in a single day heading south than north. Until the town of Roda de Ter I used the route: "Setcases - Sant Romà de Sau" from user: "OriolQueralt". From there I reconnected with the same route I used heading north, and eventually finishing with the last half of the route I started with, so from the Collformic restaurant down to Sant Esteve de Palautordera. My phone was running low on power at this point, so for the last stretch there's no gps-track. Refer to my original "Double ascent" track for that. For the first part of the route (up to Collformic), you can also refer to that same track, which is where it is documented in more detail.
