Itinerary description
After the town of Roda de Ter things start to get a little more primitive. Make sure you're stocked up on water at this point, especially if it's hot, because next comes a long stretch of secluded riding, without very much cover from the sun, or water sources in sight. The route varies between country road, dirt-track and deep forest trail, and the climb gets more and more intense, with a quick stop in the village of Vidra for more water, until finally crossing to the other side of the mountain close to Baga Amunt. Some parts of this climb were made much harder by the rain.
The descent on the other side was steep but mostly uneventful, except for one farmhouse with a lot of really loud dogs. Dirt track gives way to narrow paved road, and eventually the town of Vallfogona de Ripolles appears across the valley.
Waypoints
Climbing wall
Partly natural features, partly man-made. When I passed through on the way back, some people were climbing here.
Waterfall
Doesn't show up very well in the photo. I doubt there's water running her always, but when I passed it was giving off a nice drizzle.
Huge and scary, but ultimately peaceful bull
It was standing in the middle of the trail, just looking at me. I didn't snap the picture until I was well past it, which is why it looks small.
Wet view
At this point the thunderstorms had begun, and large sections of the dirt trails in this forest had turned into a muddy mess. Still, the view is lovely.
Camp site
As I was nearing the town of Vallfogona de Ripolles, after which the route would start climbing again, I decided to set up camp in this nice field.
