Itinerary description
Tour consisting of various trails starting in Soroa. First up the steep, but paved mountain road towards Las Terrazas. Then take a left into the forest up to the village Valdez (or Minas de Buena Vista).
From there you can head down to mapped trails towards San Blas, but really those trails are not maintained at all and consist of thick, thorny forests that make it almost impossible to pass. Next is a short bit on the paved road again, before taking a left to take some very steep trails towards the mountain road close to Los Tumbos. It consists of 2 extremely steep hikes on gravel roads with a flat wider dirt road in between.
Once back on the road head towards Soroa before taking a right at the cooperative. From here you follow a natural single trail down the mountain which becomes flat at the bottom and you follow a dried out river to the village El Brujito. From there another step, rocky hill followed by a steep, very technical descent to a school and chapel. Then it is pretty mellow riding, crossing the river a few times. One last steep, rocky climb where you have to carry the bike. From there back to the paved road and then it is another hill climb back to Soroa. Very long ride with almost no shops on the way. Try your luck at Valdez (Minas de Buena Vista) or El Brujito, but do not rely on finding any supplies. Trails are very remote, unmaintained and mostly there is no cell phone coverage.
