Itinerary description
An amazing ride over the mountain pass that connects Nerin with Torla in the Spanish Pyrenees. The Spanish name for the road translates; as: 'The route of the views of the Ordesa canyon'. So, wait for a day with clear sunny skies to take in all the breath-taking views in perfect conditions. When you reach the highest point; there are various places to view the Ordesa Canyon on your right.
It was a long ride and my rear suspension shock seal failed! Yet totally worth the effort and I enjoyed a tasty burger and chips in the roadside cafe near the Intersport in Torla. I chose to ride back along the road because of the bike problems and there was a risk of a thunderstorm high up on the mountain.
I would advise against going from Torla to Nerin on the high pass because the gradient is steeper on the Torla side. I rode on a full sus 29er. This ride would be comfortable on a hardtail mountain bike. Yet a gravel bike may become tiring because the track is very rough in places and there is a long descent to Torla.
If you need somewhere to stay, I recommend: Casa Marina in Buerba. It is a quality Casa Rural (bed and breakfast) run by a very professional Judith.
I hope the photos go some way to describing what I am struggling to put into words.
Go and see and enjoy!
