Itinerary description

Starting the trip next to the exhibition center in Parma, nothing special at all in here, following the directions to “Ponte Taro” crossing the iconic bridge identified by 2 big sculptures on each side, 4 in total, representing the 4 main rivers of Parma.
After this bridge we turned left direction Noceto, where we had a quick break to have a look at the old fortification made with bricks similar to a Castle; after Noceto we went to Costa Mezzana where we stopped quickly in the center of the village to have a look at the old church and check the map for the following village which was Castello Tabiano, really nice even this, very well maintained, characteristic old signs, few ancient houses and the Castle itself are really nice to see, all surrounded by trees and plants and a quiet environment.
The next stop has been on a kind of the top of a hill in “Paquali” where we sat on an abandoned bar bench for a quiet easy lunch, all the rest of the trip has been mainly downhill around 40 kms, passing though Medesano, Vicofertile and then rejoining the same track we took at the beginning.
Despite of the foggy/cloudy weather all good, we could even spot some wild animals like deers, pheasant, ducks, rabbits and a really big porcupine (Hystrix cristata) next to a road and a river.
The only bad point is that we did basically all the trip on asphalt roads with our mountain bikes, some off-road would be preferred from time to time. 😊
