Itinerary description
Mountain bike cycle route. Difficult.
Starts in Tama, nr. Potes. An immediate constant climb up to 4000ft.
Small amount of tarmac, then dirt/rocky trail to the top. The 1st descent takes you down into a very rocky unrideable reven. Be very careful while picking your way through. Opens up into stunning scenery, still very high up.
A rocky at first further descent onto a grassy gravel trail. Back down to the valley. A very, very steep climb back out, through a small village, continues up 1000ft. Finally onto tarmac descent with sweeping bends, up to 35mph!. Back to base. 7 hours, NO refuge. Take picnic, warm layers as it was very cold at times. A hard ride, not for the faint hearted. Fantastic scenery, very remote at times. Electric bikes were used.Garmin Montana610 GPS.
