Itinerary description

Th ride had as objective to visit a supposedly Indus complex located north east of Dhaka. The route was made accordingly and new crossing point used to pass Shitalakhya river. The first part of the track is identical to many others, given that nowadays options to get out of Dhaka are rather limited. After the tunnel under Purbachal road, the track goes north, till the crossing point where the river appeared cleaner and definitely larger than the usual crossing point (the bridge). The track continues then till the Indus complex, which includes a villa, a temple, another temple abandoned when under construction, a moth and a pond. unlike other old buildings previously visited, the complex is in quite good conditions. For the type of technology adopted, the villa could date back to the 30es of the last century.
Departing the complex, one wants to pay attention to follow the track (that in fact does exist) and perhaps cut off the back and forth we had to do to find the path. Proceeding south, the ride cross a nice area on an embankment. It also pass very close to an area with a few bricks factories.
Going further south, and again through a nice countryside, the ride reaches the boat place where to cross Shitalkhya river. From there, usual ride back to Gulshan.
A very nice ride, easy and short, but with beautiful sceneries, plus the Indus complex.

Amazing how going north of Dhaka (and possibly northern than Gazipur), water start to clean up.

Beautiful, just a glimpse of what it could be if pollution problem is resolved.

Second temple in the complex, probably left unfinished at the time people moved away.

No trace of pavements, roof or finishing works. Unfinished temple.

Very elaborated, the decoration are still in fair condition although without proper and timely maintenance one can predict the fate of this building (and that of the entire complex).

Beautiful. Skills to make such elaborate decoration were available.

Exquisite example of villa; one could imagine when the complex was populated, colorful and in well taken care of.

The patio at the entrance. Clean and in good conditions. Worth to notice, the ceiling made of steel "I" beams and columns and floors made by polished concrete.

On the back of the villa there is a walled garden. The façade is very simple and do not mirror the elaboration of the front façade. Doors were open but we did not enter as the real conditions of the structures are unknown.

Another nice embankment to ride on! those embankments are vital for agricultures in the area, people take good care of them.
