Zaruchla - Tsivlou - Diakopto - Patra, Achaea 20130324

Route from Zarouchla to Patra, Achaea.

0,0km - Zarouchla. Start from the village with main asphalt road down to Akrata until turn to Tsivlou lake.

11,0km - left turn to lake Tsivlou. When passing above the lake, the road left goes to the taverna at the lake and right one to Potamia, go right. Very steep climb starts from here until the pass (15th km at 950m) before village Ano Potamia.

16,7km - Ano Potamia. After the village the bigger road goes left up, but route continues straight down along the river. This part of the route offers very nice views to farangi

25,8km - Shortcut to hte left from main road. Here route 'changes' the valleys to go down to Ano Diakopto. I went through some really wet and muddy roads here and the bike suffered some serious dirt :-P

29,3km - Road Pountas-Kalavryta. Dirt road finishes here and nice and wide asphalt starts all the way down to old national road Patras-Korynthos.

36,5km - Old national road Patras-Korynthos. Route turns left to Diakopto. I took a little detour to Diakopto.

43,0km - Stop for rest and snack by the sea in Diakopto. From here I have followed old national road all the way to Agios Vassileios!

89,0km - back at home! Dirty and tired.

First 29km of the route are truely amazing with great dirt roads, beautiful views and nature. The part from Diakopto by old national road is a bit boring and dangerous due to traffic, but it was a must to do to get home :-P
Level moderate since the route was mainly downhills/flat with only tiny climb from Tsivlou lake to Ano Potamia.
