Itinerary description
This tracklog starts on the international road that connects Bolivia with Chile, at the exact point where the dirt road starts that goes up to the trailhead at about 5600 metres alttiude where your car will be parked.
The Acotango is a mountain that is becoming more and more popular in Bolivia due to its easy access from Villa Sajama, which is the base for ascents to several other mountains over 6000 meters in Bolivia, among them the highest of them all, the Sajama.
However, climbing Aconcagua requires good equipment, previous acclimatization in a mountain up to 5400 meters and 4x4 transport to the starting point of the ascent.
This road may be interrupted by ice and snow, so try to climb the mountain in the mountaineering season, between June and September.
