Itinerary description
The second highest mountain on Mallorca at 1,386m high, with an incomparable view to the highest, and inaccessible, Puig Major.
Trail starts a few hundred meters from the Soller side entrance of the tunnel de Monaber - dirt path with rock cairn markers heads up through the woods and then obvious, easy to follow steep path up the right side of the Coma de n'Arbona gully. It passes two snow pits to the right and up until the boundary wall at the top of the valley. Left after wall and briefly follow the military road for ~30 meters then left at rock cairns steeply uphill following the rock markers towards the ridge of the Penyal de Migdia. The climb is steep but not difficult.
On the ridge continue to right to reach the higher summit and it’s amazing views. To loop down follow the ridge in the opposite direction hitting the lower summit, then continue on the ridge westwards. Some exposure and use of hands needed. You end above a vast grassy slope edged by the western cliffs of the mountain.
Follow the cliff top for a small distance, then go downhill heading North - very few cairns on this stretch. The important cairn to look for (which is flagged on the map) marks the passage down…important as there are cliff bands on either side. It is a steep, moderately easy scramble downwards and very well marked by cairns. Would not be fun if wet. It brings you to a scree slope and the forest just above the Cami des Cingles, easily identified from above.
Take the Cami des Cingle to the left and return to your starting point.

top was in the clouds, so navigation down without a GPS would be very difficult!

Great guidance and good choice of lines and paths. The first part of the hike is more exciting and scenic than the last part. The last part also has portions of gravel, pebbles and lose stones which make for poor foothold but fine if you take it slow and easy.
