Route: Start and Stø and soon up over the Dronningruta to Nyksund.

Nyksund is a coastal town in Vesterålen, in the north of Norway. This coastal town was already inhabited before the written history of Nyksund began. Until the end of the 18th century, the town was sparsely populated, but with the rise of the fish market, Nyksund became an important trading center for the hundreds of fishermen who exploited the rich, cod-populated fish banks.
With the emergence of larger and more modern ships and better road transport, Nyksund became partially isolated because the waters around it were too shallow and partly because of poor accessibility. As a result, the population fell sharply. Eventually, in the 70s Nyksund became a ghost town.
Around the turn of the century, after spending a period of 30 years as a ghost town, the lights in Nyksund slowly started again. New residents did see opportunities to revitalize the town and since 2003 there have been 30-40 people in the summer, and a few unwavering people live there all year round.
