We wake up in a motel on route 66 'Southwest' in the town of Grants and the first thing I see when opening the door is a snowstorm-hail with a wind of 40km / h that makes you want to close the door again and continue to hear the noise of the trains of cars at full throttle. But as we have not come, we put the bike in the car and go to the starting line. In front of the mining museum. Everybody has bike cucumbers, many like time trial, and here the menda vá with what you have, a cross bike, half mountain half road (although it is + mountain I think) ... thank God that always there is someone who is worse ... one goes with mountain bike and frack dress ... start the race and we have tailwind, well that's fine, I start talking to the organizer's wife and zaskas ... to run , the last 2 kms for snow. Now the transition of the skis. Hard moment, my hands explode with pain and the one I have hurt seems to have died. I get moving and regained sensibility. Put skins (skinskin) to the skis, is an inventory, better than the potato omelet. We climbed a steep slope called Heartbreak ... and not a slip ... yes, the 45km / h winds and the snowstorm makes us look down and climb like soldiers. Transition of rackets, there is a bonfire in the snow, on this side there is no wind, we climb to the MT. Taylor and just before going up ... minibar, wiski, tequila and rum ... flip ... 500m higher crowned with temperatures of -8 to -10 degrees.
We return where we came, rackets down ... what a delight, and then ... horror, down with the skis. He did not remove the skins, and people pass me as if I were riding a Seat panda. But I've become older, under very safe pq does not slip anything. Even on some incline I frame the wedge and phenomenal. This journey ends without any fall but yes ... I do not see many people. Transition run. Mixed cheese and ham from York and down. Step people. Bike transition. It's down but it's so windy that even on the slopes the bike does not lower me. The worst of the race the end. Face wind and I do not advance anything and when I thought that this was a hell, the one in front of the pedal comes out and I saw ... I tried to help (take the opportunity to rest) and stop more people and fix it ... we continue to down ... and in the absence of a mile and a half the guy on the pedal I see him again with the pedal in hand ... in short I'm still ... I see the goal and rush almost 7 hours and a great satisfaction to overcome the fear skiing, cold and wind
